"From China, To Canada" is a diptych of photo weavings representing idyllic natural landscapes. A subjective rather than objective art, traditional Chinese painting considers the landscape as an expression of the artist's state of mind. In this work, I am inspired by this vision, and use the landscape to express my idealized vision of a visit to China. The original images were taken in Saskatchewan in 2020 during a road trip from Montreal to British Columbia. Created in 2021 during the pandemic, this work is about a desire to connect with the outside world without being able to access it.
