Untitled Labour

The series "Untitled Labour" is a work regrouping several diptychs featuring real events related to my transnational adoption in 1999, my childhood in Quebec City and my return to China in 2012. Using the photographic archives taken by my mother, I go back in time to reconnect different periods of my life. More specifically, I look at the Chinese hand labor, transnational adoption and the reconstruction of identity. The title refers as much to the unrecognized labor as to forgotten births. The inability to extract new information from these photos despite the enlargement is analogous to the inability to extract more information from the adoption documents or the workers working in the shadow.
