"The Chinese Dream" series is an ongoing project. The artist continues to use the hand-weaving technique with photo paper, but this time, she subtly alters the images using Photoshop to evoke the omnipresence of China in her mind. In this series, she delves into the complexities of what China represented during her childhood and adulthood: a space filled with allure, mythology, and desire. Growing up outside of China, she dreamed of China—its culture, history, and possibilities. Through these works, she aims to highlight the tension between idealization and reality, inviting the audience to reconsider the myths we construct about foreign lands and how these fantasies shape our understanding of self and identity.
